Community Members Meet with President Assoumani of the Comoros
President Azali Assoumani of the Comoros met with Dawoodi Bohra community members at the presidential residence in a friendly meeting meant to foster dialogue on various topics of mutual interest.
The President applauded the community’s efforts to provide shelter and aid to all those left homeless in the aftermath of Cyclone Kenneth. He also expressed his support for the community’s plans to conduct medical camps which aim to cater to those worse affected by the cyclone providing them with necessary diagnosis and treatment.
The Bohra community in Comoros comprises of 25 families engaged primarily in business. They came to the Islands from Gujarat, India in search of better prospects intending to settle on the shores of East Africa but realising great opportunity and potential in the Comoros. Many families also migrated to the Comoros from neighbouring Madagascar. They live on the two main Islands of the archipelago, namely the Grande Comore and Anjouan.
