HISTORIC REVELATION MARKS SYEDNA BURHANUDDIN’S ANNIVERSARY
The fifth death anniversary of the 52nd al-Dāʿī al-Mutlaq, Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin RA was marked by a historic revelation which was described by his successor, Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin TUS, during his sermon to mark the occasion.
His Holiness TUS gave his discourse at the historic Badri Mahal masjid in Fort, Mumbai which was relayed both live and by recording in Bohra centres across the world.
The week began with celebrations of the birthday of the Prophet Mohammed SA including a procession around the historic locale of Bhendi Bazaar in central Mumbai and a recording of a sermon by Syedna Burhanuddin RA to mark the same occasion in Kuwait in 2004 . Commemorations then turned to the namesake of the holy Prophet SA, Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin RA, whose last public appearance five years ago was for the Prophet’s birthday celebration, before he passed away four days later.
Syedna Saifuddin TUS delivered his sermon on Saturday morning and it was about halfway through that he announced a closely guarded secret that the graves of four duʿāt mutlaqīnof Yemen had been rediscovered in Sanaa at the mountain of Hisn-e-Afʾida. These graves had been covered by various elements including silt brought down by gushing waters down the mountainside and had not been seen, certainly at any time for the best part of the last century.
The graves were uncovered in a graveyard at the base of the mountain and had been revealed a month ago. They are of the 11th dāʿī Syedna Ibrahim bin Husain al-Walid RA, the 12th, Syedna Mohammed bin Syedi Hatim al-Walid RA, the 13th, Syedna Ali bin Syedna Ibrahim RA and the 30th, Syedna Ali Shamsuddin bin Moulai Hasan RA. However, as Syedna explained, the news was kept closely guarded for a month until finally being revealed today. Syedna then performed the symbolic foundation ceremony for two mausoleums for the four duʿāt, three being together and the fourth being somewhat apart; and a restored masjid.
The cheer abounded over this celebratory and commemoratory week as the grand old Saifee Masjid, which had been completely levelled over the last few months, had its foundation ceremony also take place the evening before.
